Lips of an Angel

This is Cody Hanson. He’s the drummer in Hinder. He doesn’t have a birthday either really. He got his first drum kit when he was 12 and taught himself how to play (clever guy). He started a band in middle school but it didn’t really take off. He lost interest in drumming for about two years and started to play guitar instead. But when he picked up a pair of sticks again Hinder was formed and his life changed from there. The rest, as they say, is history.

Remember those heartfelt lyrics I posted a few posts back? This is the song and video for it. I think it’s the cutest thing ever.
Yes, it is my favourite song. It should be yours too!

Enjoy.

She said, ‘Hello, Hey Joe’…

News on the loveliness that is Hinder is thin on the ground right now since they are on tour. There’s been no stories of the guys throwing TV’s out the window, or anything like that so I suspect all is good in the ‘hood.

Now a more personal introduction from Joe ‘Blower’ Garvey. Goodness knows where he got his nickname from but this is a statement made by him from Hinder’s website.

Well, to all you beautiful fans out there it was hard to figure out what to say to you but this is what I came up with. I was born in Oklahoma City, Ok and for as long as I can remember I surrounded myself with music, especially rock n’ roll. Whether it was in my car or room, there was music around me. I started playing guitar in high school on and off for a few years and it wasn’t until college, when I met Cody and Austin, that’s I began to take guitar seriously. I knew the minute we started to practice together in Cody’s room that there was something amazing there, but still never thought at that time we would be in this incredible situation now, four years later. My hobbies are pretty simple, they include drinking, playing guitar, doing filthy things for money and dry humping cheerleaders. I have enjoyed these hobbies and I’m sure to develop more, as well as the band, in the future. I will always continue to surround myself with music and hope that our music will surround you fans out there. Rock on!

Sounds like a fungi….Get it Fungi…? Yeah, it’s an oldie.
Thar be a piccie…

Ahem…I had to restrain my true teenie self from bursting forth and licking that man’s face off. How professional…
No-one knows when this man’s birthday is…apparently. So you shall not know. Unless someone wants to inform me…

Thank you and enjoooy.

Thar be the lead singer of Hinder. Preeety little man. I’m going to leave you with the lyrics to one of Hinder’s, in my opinion, best song ever. It’s called ‘Lips of an Angel’.

Honey why you calling me so late?
It’s kinda hard to talk right now.
Honey why are you crying? Is everything okay?
I gotta whisper ’cause I can’t be too loud

Well, my girl’s in the next room
Sometimes I wish she was you
I guess we never really moved on
It’s really good to hear your voice say my name
It sounds so sweet
Coming from the lips of an angel
Hearing those words it makes me weak

And I never wanna say goodbye
But girl you make it hard to be faithful
With the lips of an angel

It’s funny that you’re calling me tonight
And, yes, I’ve dreamt of you too
And does he know you’re talking to me
Will it start a fight
No I don’t think she has a clue

Well my girl’s in the next room
Sometimes I wish she was you
I guess we never really moved on
It’s really good to hear your voice say my name
It sounds so sweet
Coming from the lips of an angel
Hearing those words it makes me weak

And I never wanna say goodbye
But girl you make it hard to be faithful
With the lips of an angel

It’s really good to hear your voice say my name
It sounds so sweet
Coming from the lips of an angel
Hearing those words it makes me weak

And I never wanna say goodbye
But girl you make it hard to be faithful
With the lips of an angel

And I never wanna say goodbye
But girl you make it hard to be faithful
With the lips of an angel

Honey why you calling me so late?

Pretty, no?

Now for the question on all of our lips: Where are Hinder today?

Well the answer to that time old question is….drum roll please…

Obscure Questions For The Band

by

I stumbled upon an ‘ask Hinder’ part of their website and I was rather intrigued. Given the chance to ask Hinder something, I don’t quite know what I would ask. Yeah, I could ask something that they’ve always been asked. Like, : Who are your favourite band? or something equally boring. What I really would like to ask is something quite obscure. Maybe, ‘If you could chosse would you have a bum on your forehead or two little feet dangling from your chin?’. Yes, I did steal that.

So given half the chance, I’d make an absolute idiot of myself but on the other hand they would never forget me. Think you can top that? Got any questions that would stun the guys into silence because they are so obscure? Leave them for me in a comment. I’m quite interested to see what weird and wonderful things crop up! And of course, if I think yours is the best you shall be celebrated in future posts and I might just give you the link for the ‘Ask Hinder’ page. Although, you could probably google it in seconds but it’s all in the name of fun!

Get Stoned

by

Now for some actual music from Hinder. This is the first single, and video, from their album ‘Extreme Behaviour’. This song has the catchiest chorus and whenever I listen to it it gets stuck in my head. The video shows them living it up Hinder style - pretty women and parties. Personally, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Every aspect of the video compliments the song.

Well, enjoy!

Hinder - An Introduction

by

HinderIf you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past few years you may not have heard of the new band ‘Hinder’. They swept onto the rock scene in 2005 with their phenomenal single ‘Get Stoned’. Both memorable and lyrically very different Hinder proved they were going to be around for quite a while. Also known for their tendency to subscribe, fairly regularly I might add, to the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle, they’ve certainly made a splash, or would tidal wave be the correct word?

The quintuplet consists of Austin Wrinkler (vocals), Joe ‘Blower’ Garvey (guitar), Mark King (also on guitar), Mike Rodden (bass) and Cody Hanson (drums). The band originate from Oklahoma City, US. A full biography of the band and it’s members can be found here .

The band released their album ‘Extreme Behaviour’ in September 2005. It wasn’t very well received but since then the hype around them has grown and they have become recognised as a band with the potential to achieve wonderful things. Further singles include ‘Lips of an Angel’ and ‘How Long?’ in 2006, which I would highly recommend.

It’s pretty obvious Hinder won’t let themselves be forgotten so expect to see them in the upcoming months showing you how it’s done - the Hinder way.

About Hinder

This site is about Hinder; an American post-grunge band from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma that was formed in 2001 by drummer Cody Hanson, guitar player Joe "Blower" Garvey, and Singer Austin Winkler. They released their first EP titled "Far From Close" on and independent record label, Brickden Records. It sold about 5,000 copies. The three members then began working on new material in 2004 for their next independent release. These demos caught the attention of several major record labels.
